Quality of Tanzanian coffee

The Tanzania Coffee Research Institute has played a major role in helping the farmers to increase their yield.There are two major coffee varieties produced in Tanzania and they are:

1 Robusta: Robusta coffee is predominantly cultivated in the western areas along Lake Victoria in the Kagera region. This constitutes 30% of the total coffee production in Tanzania.

2 Arabica: Arabica production is split between the country’s mountainous Northern Zone and rainy Southern Highlands, which means that there is a clear difference in flavor between the two.

Northern coffees tend to have a pleasant aroma, a rich acidity and mouthfeel, and a sweet, balanced taste.The region is rich with mineral nutrients found in the region’s mountainous volcanic soils that adds certain special traits to the coffee beans

Southern coffees, meanwhile, are characteristically medium-bodied with fine acidity. They generally have good fruity and floral aromas and flavors
